Honduras

The ministry Team, in partnership with Buckner International and Orphan Helpers, is committed to bringing hope to children in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Mission trips twice a year serve to engage the church in this service. Our work with the families in San Pedro Sula serves to free them and their children to follow Jesus. We pray that children come to know Jesus and replace the false security they find in gangs with true security that is only found in Jesus. We have dedicated ourselves to the service of the children of Nueva Esperanza, the adolescent girls of Casitas Mujeres and the children & families of the Las Brisas area.

Nueva Esperanza (New Hope) Orphanage houses approximately 75 – 100 children up to age 12. The design for this facility is that it be a transitional location for children awaiting permanent placement elsewhere in the system. The unfortunate fact is that many of these children stay for an extended period. Our ministry, supplementing the full-time Orphan Helpers staff, seeks to encourage and bring the hope of Christ to these children in their formative years.

Casitas Mujeres Adolescentes is designed to house approximately 90 girls, but suffers from overcrowding with as many as 150 girls at times, ages 11 – 18. Again, full time Orphan Helpers staff works with these girls teaching them about Christ. When these girls worship, your heart is moved! Yet, there are many spiritual, emotional and physical needs to be addressed and this is where our ongoing service is focused.

Las Brisas is a desperately poor region of San Pedro Sula located along the bank of the Chamelecon River.

Projects that are in the planning and/or construction phase include the Genesis Center (with Orphan Helpers) and a Community Transformation Center (with Buckner International). The ministry team is bringing construction skills and financial resources to these projects. Genesis will benefit girls from Casitas Mujeres with a residential setting and children of Nueva Esperanza with classrooms and additional activity space. The Community Transformation Center will provide scholarships to the private school for the children of Las Brisas and provide a variety of services to the families of the area.

When I stepped out of my fear and asked God to use me, He led me to Honduras. He revealed Himself in the faces of every Honduran child and now that I’ve been there I will never stop caring for them.

I left for Honduras with tears of fear and returned with tears of sorrow as God broke my heart for the people of Honduras that now had faces. I knew I would return to continue what we started there. Jennifer S.

Since the trip I don’t think a day has passed that I have not thought about those kids. God has permanently pressed them into my heart.

Before leaving for Honduras God told me that who I was would be set aside and He would work differently through me. My spiritual connection to these kids is beyond my capacity
